With January and February well and truly behind us I awake on the 3rd day of March to hear birds singing and daylight twinkling through the curtains at 6.00 am Spring is definitely on its way.
The Darrynane garden is smattered with colour as beautiful yellow full bloomed daffodils sway in the breeze and the miniature ones dance around the pond. Delicate lemon Primroses appear around the garden and always make me smile as the radiance of the pink and red Camellias highlight the garden throughout Winter. The birds are abundant with Blue and Great Tits, Black caps, Long Tailed Tits, Robins, Wrens, Nuthatch Blackbirds & Jays all regularly hanging off the feeders at present. The frogs came back in force in February, the most we have seen at Darrynane for many years, and not a frost or freeze in sight. (They normally arrive and then the pond freezers shortly after).
We have been busy here at Darrynane Holiday Cottages with Lakeside cottage, our two bedroomed property, sleeping up to 4 people, welcoming guests throughout the Winter and looking busy over the next few months. The Lodge, our one bedroomed cottage, sleeping 2, is looking smarter with new roofing tiles and it is awaiting a further lift with new windows and doors which hopefully will be completed before it gets busy too.
Strolling around Bodmin Moor from Darrynane is always a joy at any time of the year yet in the Winter on a bright, sunny day there is nothing better. Walking up onto Ladydown from St Breward Football Club, over the cattlegrid there, in front of you is a great expanse of moorland and on the horizon Brown Willy and Rough Tor a majestic sight and a nudge that I need to climb them again!!
