For those of you who have never visited Cornwall in May it is a most stunning, colourful and vibrant month and this year, I believe, has been exceptional.
I’ve written about the Azaleas but this year it seems to have been a parade of wonderful displays. Fragrant bluebells carpetted the woodland floor, the hedgerows abundant with, bluebells, pink and white Campion, wild garlic, buttercups, and a lovely white lacy flower not sure if its saxifrage or fools parsley but it is delicate and very pretty. The trees get their leaves and everywhere you look up there are lime green umbrellas shading as the sun glimpses through.
I’ve enjoyed many strolls along the Camel River with Frodo over the last new months. Unfortunately it’s getting a bit overgrown now so not so easy to get there. Now Frodo’s older we are walking and exploring further a field – I’m loving it!
We’ve had a really good start to the year and it’s booking up in September too. The most exciting part is we’ve had so many returning visitors this year – not only the regulars but some who had not visited in years – it’s lovely to see them back and catch up and to know they enjoy Darrynane and Cornwall so much.
We didn’t manage to get to Hobby Oss but many of our guests did and they enjoyed a wonderful spectacle as Padstow people parade around the streets in their White, Blue and Red finery following the two Oss’ to celebrate Spring.
I had a late birthday present too. David and I visited Fifteen a couple of weeks ago for lunch. We had a really nice time. The food – excellent, ambiance great and looking over Watergate bay watching surfers, dog walkers and people playing on the sand really made it special. We did book but it wasn’t necessary although Monday in mid May is probably not the busiest time.
We have a special at Lakeside cottage, sleeps 4, this Summer. It is available from Monday – Friday 11th – 15th August.
The tariff inclusive of all electricity, wifi, bed linen, towels and wood will be £320. Dogs welcome at £7 per dog per break. If you fancy a get-away but are unable to take the whole week just let us know – first come first serve.
June has started well and Cornwall show is this week – not sure if we’ll make it this year but we’ll try. All our guests are here to go. Some are showing their dogs. We also have regular guests who make and show their honey and cakes. They do very well usually getting a first – fingers crossed for this year too.
Enjoy!
Best wishes,
Angela
