Walking in Darrynane woods yesterday I arrived at the lower pond, and I couldn’t believe the difference a few days had made. A few days earlier I had passed by and it was most definitely still in Winter guise, and yet a few days later here it is with lilies shooting up and the fresh green Gunnera leaves beginning to sprout, a very different scene. A Spring guise!
Continuing further down the road and I found the first buds, sorry picture a little hazy. A sure sign Spring is well and truly on its way. However, just a few degrees warmer would be much appreciated.
Great Spotted Woodpecker – the first for many a year!
We had a Greater Spotted Woodpecker on our feeders this morning, the first we have seen for many a year. We often hear the sound of the woodpecker working away in the woods, but seeing is very different.
